කොස්ගොඩ වෙරළට දාර කැස්බෑවෙකු ගොඩ ගසයි
A leatherback turtle was found today washed ashore on the Kosgoda, Paratharayaka Beach, local media reported.
The Head of the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Project, Chandrasiri Abrew speaking to a local television station was quoted as saying the turtle died due to some sort of human interference.
The Leatherback is the largest sea turtle and can reach lengths over 6 feet and weights over 2,000 pounds.
These animals are deep divers, and have the ability to dive to over 3,000 feet. Leatherback turtles nest on tropical beaches, but can migrate as far north as Canada during the rest of the year.
Reports claim that this rare breed of turtles have been constantly washing ashore in recent times.

කොස්ගොඩ කෑස්බෑ පර්යේෂණ මධ්යස්ථානයේ ප්රධානී චන්ද්රසිරි ආබෲ මහතා පැවසුවේ මිනිස් ක්රියාකාරකමක් හේතුවෙන් එම කැස්බෑවා මියගොස් ඇති බවට සැක කළ හැකි බව ය.
මේ අතර පසුගිය කාල වකවනුවේදී වරින් වර කැස්බෑවන් වෙරළට ගොඩගැසූ බව ප්රදේශවාසීන් පවසති.
